Graduation Information Verification

If you are experiencing an error message please review the FAQ's below and try again.

A Graduation Information Verification task will be assigned to all students who have applied for graduation during their final semester. GIV notices begin going out to students' WSU emails several weeks before the initial application deadline.

Completing the GIV is not required in order to graduate. It is intended solely for the benefit of students.

The GIV is designed to allow students an extra opportunity to double-check their diploma information and to confirm the address that their diploma will be mailed to. The verification should be completed prior to addressing any issues or concerns.

The GIV will stop sending once it has been completed or on the last day of instruction of the current term.

If you find mistakes or anything missing during your review, please complete the Graduation Information Verification before directing questions to your advisor or department.

  • Select "Tasks" on the myWSU Student Homepage.

  • Select "Graduation Information Verification" from the To-Do List.

  • Review the pages in sequence.

    • The first page lists basic information on how degrees, certificates, majors, minors, etc. will be displayed.

    • The second page will display program and graduation information, including diploma mailing address and student name as it will appear on the diploma.

      • Diplomas are printed with the student's Primary Name.

      • Diplomas and Certificates are mailed to the DIPLOMA address in the myWSU Student Homepage. If no DIPLOMA address is available at the time of mailing, the HOME address is used. Diplomas cannot be mailed to the mailing address in myWSU.

    • The third page requires the student to confirm they have reviewed all information and offers two options to select.

      • A - All information is correct, including name and diploma address.

      • B - One or more items are incorrect, and after submitting the verification the student will contact the designated department.

    • The fourth page prompts the student to select "Submit" in the upper right corner. Once the button is selected, the process is completed.

  • I previously completed the verification - why do I have to do it again?

    • Students are assigned the verification during their final term whether they have completed it previously or not. It is imperative that all information is current.

  • Why do I keep getting emails about completing the verification?

    • Once the verification has been completed, reminder emails will stop. If the verification still shows under Tasks on myWSU then further action is required.

  • If an error occurs:

    • Failure to address will result in inaccurate data and a delay in awarding degree.
